Muba menyedot perhatian publik lantaran akan mengelola kelapa sawit menjadi bahan bakar berupa bensin sawit (bensa). Di bawah kepemimpinan Bupati Dodi Reza Alex Noerdin dan kerja sama dengan Founder and Chairman MarkPlus Inc. Hermawan Kartajaya, Muba diproyeksikan akan menjadi Ibu Kota Dunia Energi Berkelanjutan (World Capital of Sustainable Energy) pada tahun 2030 mendatang. \u201cSaat ini kita sudah bicara EBT, beruntunglah daerah yang sudah menginisiasi EBT dari sekarang,\u201d ungkap Ketua Umum Asosiasi Daerah Penghasil Migas dan Energi Terbarukan (ADPMET) yang juga Gubernur Jawa Barat, Ridwan Kamil, seperti dikutip dari laman\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/mubakab.go.id\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">mubakab.go.id<\/a>. Ridwan Kamil juga mengucapkan terima kasih kepada PT Pertamina di Palembang yang akan menyediakan kilang untuk menampung B100 pengolahan kelapa sawit menjadi bensin yang salah satunya dari Musi Banyuasin. \u201cSaat ini trennya sudah berubah, mari terus kita gencarkan EBT ini,\u201d ucap Ridwan Kamil. Lebih lanjut dikatakan Dodi, \u201cBiofuel atau pengolahan kelapa sawit menjadi bensin di Muba ini merupakan bagian dari komitmen pemerintah untuk mendorong EBT berdasarkan potensi daerah, dan Muba sudah melaksanakan ini sejak tiga tahun yang lalu\u201d. Dijelaskan Dodi, EBT ini merupakan isu seksi di dunia, terlebih berkaitan dengan kedaulatan kelapa sawit di Indonesia serta menangkis serangan kelapa sawit Indonesia yang diembargo negara luar. \u201cUsulan kami konkret, pertama kami berharap agar daerah pengolah dan yang mengusahakan EBT seperti biofuel mendapatkan insentif khusus daerah karena selama ini DBH menimbulkan stagnansi,\u201d ungkap Dodi. Kemudian, Dodi yang juga Ketua Umum Lingkar Temu Kabupaten Lestari (LTKL) Indonesia ini berharap, EBT harus dimasukkan ke dalam proyek strategis nasional. \u201cKami juga meminta agar daerah yang memiliki banyak sumur tua seperti di Muba diberikan penguatan wewenang untuk mengelola sumur-sumur tua yang selama ini ditambang dengan tidak memenuhi standar keamanan.
