Salah satu aktivitas yang berkontribusi besar adalah penggunaan energi yang tidak ramah lingkungan, seperti bahan bakar fosil untuk transportasi. Berdasarkan data dari\u00a0<i>Climate Transparency 2020<\/i>, sektor transportasi menyumbang 27 persen emisi sektor energi di Indonesia. Emisi sektor energi sendiri menyumbang lebih dari 40 persen total emisi. Lantas, haruskah kita terus menggantungkan diri kepada bahan bakar fosil dan berkontribusi terhadap bertambahnya kadar emisi?<\/p>\n<p>Tentu kita setuju bahwa sudah saatnya secara bertahap kita beralih ke energi terbarukan, seperti biodiesel.\u00a0Di Indonesia sendiri, riset biodiesel berkembang sejak tahun 1990-an. Riset ini meneliti produksi biodiesel dari berbagai bahan baku, seperti kelapa sawit, minyak jelantah, jarak pagar dan minyak nabati lainnya.\u00a0Sawit ditunjuk sebagai komoditas utama bahan baku biodiesel karena sebagai negara penghasil kelapa sawit nomor satu di dunia, produksi CPO Indonesia melimpah, bahkan sampai\u00a0<i>over supply<\/i>. Selain itu, bahan bakar nabati ini dinilai pemerintah memiliki emisi yang lebih rendah dibanding emisi yang dihasilkan dari energi fosil.<\/p>\n<p>Tidak hanya itu saja, Indonesia kaya akan lahan dan sumber daya alam yang tersebar di pelosok Indonesia. Memang, banyak potensi energi baru terbarukan lain yang dapat dimanfaatkan, seperti tenaga surya atau tenaga uap. Namun, kedua sumber energi ini hanya dapat dimanfaatkan secara lokal. Oleh karena itu, biodiesel lebih unggul dari sumber-sumber energi baru terbarukan lainnya karena minyak kelapa sawit yang diolah menjadi biodiesel ini dapat disebarkan ke seluruh penjuru Indonesia, dari Sabang hingga Merauke, sehingga penyebaran lebih merata.<\/p>\n<p>Dengan segala kelebihan yang dimiliki biodiesel, pemerintah Indonesia sepenuhnya mendukung transisi energi baru terbarukan, salah satunya dengan mengeluarkan kebijaksanaan berupa Program Mandatori Biodiesel yang mana setiap penggunaan solar wajib mencampurkan biodiesel. Tentunya, penerapan program ini membutuhkan proses implementasi secara bertahap. Mulai dari Program B2,5 hingga Program B20 sukses diimplementasikan di semua sektor berkat\u00a0komitmen pemerintah Indonesia, periset, serta dukungan para investor dalam menyukseskan program energi baru terbarukan ini.
