Beberapa contoh sumber energi terbarukan yang tersedia melimpah di Indonesia ini adalah kelapa sawit, tanaman pangan, dan limbah perkotaan. Saat ini, perkebunan kelapa sawit menghasilkan proporsi terbesar dari jumlah total bioenergi yang dihasilkan di Indonesia, yaitu 38,8%, lebih banyak dari limbah sekam padi (30,8%), karet (8,5%), limbah perkotaan (6,3%), dan kayu (4,1%).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Indonesia memiliki banyak peluang lain untuk memaksimalkan potensi bioenergi, misalnya dengan mengkonversi minyak jelantah atau <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">used cooking oil <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(UCO) menjadi biodiesel. Penggunaan UCO untuk biodiesel tersebut memiliki dampak positif secara ekonomi dan mengurangi dampak buruk terhadap lingkungan.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Berdasarkan kajian awal oleh Tim Nasional Percepatan Penanggulangan Kemiskinan (TNP2K) dan lembaga penelitian independen, Traction Energi Asia, tentang &#8216;Potensi Minyak Jelantah untuk Biodiesel dan Pemberantasan Kemiskinan di Indonesia (2020)&#8217; menunjukkan bahwa pada tahun 2019, konsumsi nasional Indonesia mencapai 16,2 juta KL. Dari volume tersebut, sekitar 40%-60% UCO diproduksi atau setara dengan 6,46-9,72 juta KL, dan hanya 3 juta KL atau 18,5% dari UCO yang dapat dikumpulkan. Pemerintah Indonesia perlu berkolaborasi lebih banyak dengan pemerintah daerah untuk menetapkan kebijakan yang dapat membantu koordinasi dalam pengumpulan UCO.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Untuk mendorong pengembangan sektor energi baru terbarukan, pemerintah dan lembaga swasta harus memberikan dukungan penuh untuk memfasilitasi lebih banyak penelitian di masa mendatang. Sebagai contoh, saat ini, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh November (ITS) sepakat untuk melakukan kerja sama dengan PT BGR dalam pengembangan <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">teaching factory<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Seperti yang dijelaskan oleh Wakil Rektor IV ITS, Bambang Pramujati, S.T., M.Sc.Eng., Ph.D., program kerja sama ini merupakan perencanaan kecil untuk fasilitas pembelajaran dan penelitian yang diharapkan dapat memberikan kontribusi nyata bagi dunia pendidikan, pembangunan negara, dan kerja sama dengan kementerian serta lembaga lainnya.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Maka dari itu, kita perlu terus mendukung lebih banyak kolaborasi untuk memastikan bahwa produksi biofuels di Indonesia dapat memenuhi potensi terbesar.
