Hal tersebut didorong oleh pembangunan ekonomi yang kuat, peningkatan urbanisasi, dan pertumbuhan penduduk yang stabil. Sebenarnya, bahan bakar fosil memiliki kontribusi dalam pemanasan global dengan gas rumah kaca yang dihasilkan, yang tentunya dapat merusak bumi. Saatnya beralih ke sumber energi yang lebih bersih, berkelanjutan dan dapat didaur ulang, yaitu energi baru terbarukan (EBT).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pengembangan EBT Indonesia memiliki banyak kendala, antara lain tidak jelasnya kebijakan yang berlaku, hambatan pasar energi, hambatan pembiayaan, dan kapasitas produksi energi terbarukan yang rendah. Selain itu, sebagian besar orang masih menganggap energi terbarukan membutuhkan lebih banyak ruang dibandingkan bahan bakar fosil.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Energi baru terbarukan umumnya memiliki kepadatan daya yang lebih rendah daripada sumber tak terbarukan. Kepadatan daya adalah daya listrik rata-rata yang dihasilkan oleh satu meter persegi horizontal infrastruktur. Lalu, dapatkah kita simpulkan bahwa EBT membutuhkan lebih banyak lahan untuk menghasilkan jumlah daya yang setara dengan energi nonterbarukan? Apakah semua teknologi EBT membutuhkan banyak ruang lebih? Jawabannya, tidak!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pembangkit listrik tenaga angin merupakan salah satu contoh energi terbarukan yang tidak memakan banyak tempat. Pilar kincir sebagai pembangkit listrik dapat dipasang pada lahan pertanian terbuka yang sudah ada sehingga lebih efisien. Begitu pula dengan pembangkit listrik tenaga air. Selain itu, ladang angin dapat dipasang di laut, panel surya bekerja sangat baik di atap, dan turbin angin dapat dibangun di kawasan padang rumput.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sementara itu, masalah energi tenaga surya yang konon memakan terlalu banyak ruang dapat diatasi dengan memilih lahan yang tepat untuk membangun pembangkit listrik tenaga surya, misalnya, di daerah terpencil dengan populasi sedikit. Oleh karena itu, pemasangan sel surya dapat dikatakan efektif karena memanfaatkan pemanfaatan lahan yang tidak terpakai.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Walaupun energi baru terbarukan lainnya mungkin saja memakan lebih banyak ruang, namun ruang tersebut akan lebih bersih dan dapat dikembangkan untuk berbagai kegunaan, seperti bertani di sekitar pangkal turbin angin.
