Konferensi Iklim PBB ke-28 (COP-28) yang diadakan di Sharjah, Uni Emirat Arab pada November 2023 lalu menjadi salah satu momen penting dalam upaya global untuk mengatasi perubahan iklim. Salah satu isu penting yang dibahas di COP-28 adalah penghapusan bahan bakar fosil secara bertahap.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sekretaris Jenderal PBB, Antonio Guterres, menegaskan pentingnya penghapusan bahan bakar fosil untuk mencegah bencana iklim.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ia mengatakan bahwa “Jika kita terus menggunakan bahan bakar fosil, kita akan menuju ke bencana total.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Guterres mengakui bahwa penghapusan bahan bakar fosil bukanlah hal yang mudah. Ia mengatakan bahwa negara-negara perlu bekerja sama untuk mengembangkan rencana yang terorganisir dan kerangka waktu yang kredibel. Namun, Guterres juga percaya bahwa penghapusan bahan bakar fosil adalah langkah yang perlu diambil. Ia mengatakan bahwa<\/span><\/p>\n

“Energi terbarukan adalah masa depan, dan kita harus mulai beralih sekarang.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Selain penghapusan bahan bakar fosil, COP-28 juga membahas isu-isu penting lainnya, seperti pengembangan energi terbarukan, keadilan iklim, dan kerugian dan kerusakan yang diakibatkan oleh perubahan iklim.<\/span><\/p>\n

Penghapusan bahan bakar fosil juga penting untuk mewujudkan keadilan iklim. Negara-negara yang paling terdampak oleh perubahan iklim, seperti negara-negara di Afrika, umumnya merupakan negara-negara yang paling bergantung pada bahan bakar fosil.<\/span><\/p>\n

Penghapusan bahan bakar fosil secara bertahap dapat membantu negara-negara ini untuk beralih ke energi terbarukan dan mengurangi ketergantungan mereka pada bahan bakar fosil. Hal ini juga dapat membantu untuk mengurangi ketimpangan antara negara-negara yang kaya dan miskin dalam hal penanganan perubahan iklim.<\/span><\/p>\n
