NZE sebuah misi mulia untuk memangkas emisi karbon hingga 11,5 gigaton. Langkah krusial dalam mewujudkan impian ini adalah meninggalkan bahan bakar fosil konvensional seperti avtur dan beralih ke solusi yang lebih hijau dan berkelanjutan. Tidak lain adalah Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Menurut Arif Rahman, seorang ahli di Jakarta pada Rabu, 15 April 2025, SAF diprediksi akan menjadi Game Changer, mampu memangkas emisi CO2 hingga sekitar 718 Mega Ton pada tahun 2050. Bahkan, kebutuhan SAF global diperkirakan akan mencapai 449 Miliar Liter per tahun pada periode yang sama. Indonesia menyadari potensi besar ini, telah menetapkan peta jalan strategis dengan tiga tujuan utama. Peta tersebut antara lain dekarbonisasi sektor penerbangan, kedaulatan energi melalui pemanfaatan bahan baku domestik, dan penciptaan nilai ekonomi melalui hilirisasi. Termasuk penjualan SAF dan peningkatan investasi.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Saat ini, produksi SAF di Indonesia masih bertumpu pada jalur Hydroprocessed Esters and Fatty Acids (HEFA) dengan Palm Kernel Oil (PKO) sebagai bahan baku. Namun, kesadaran akan pentingnya keberlanjutan mendorong riset dan pengembangan (RnD) intensif terhadap beragam sumber bahan baku SAF yang lebih ramah lingkungan melalui metode HEFA generasi berikutnya. Arif Rahman menekankan bahwa keberlanjutan produksi SAF adalah kunci. Mencakup pengurangan emisi Gas Rumah Kaca (GRK), memutus ketergantungan pada bahan bakar fosil, mendorong ekonomi sirkular, menekan polusi udara lokal, mendukung pembangunan berkelanjutan, serta memenuhi regulasi dan tuntutan pasar global.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Minyak Jelantah dan Limbah Sawit: Bintang Baru SAF Indonesia<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Kabar baiknya, Indonesia memiliki dua kandidat kuat sebagai alternatif bahan baku SAF yang lebih berkelanjutan melalui jalur HEFA generasi berikutnya: Used Cooking Oil (UCO) alias minyak jelantah, dan Palm Fatty Acid Distillate (PFAD), sebuah produk samping dari pengolahan kelapa sawit. Keduanya merupakan limbah yang memiliki potensi besar untuk diubah menjadi bahan bakar ramah lingkungan bagi pesawat terbang.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Untuk memastikan bahwa pengembangan SAF benar-benar memberikan manfaat lingkungan yang optimal, pendekatan Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) menjadi krusial. LCA adalah metode sistematis untuk mengukur dampak lingkungan suatu produk, proses, atau aktivitas dari awal hingga akhir siklus hidupnya. LCA mencakup ekstraksi bahan baku, produksi, distribusi, penggunaan, hingga pembuangan atau daur ulang. Arif Rahman menjelaskan bahwa LCA memiliki segudang manfaat bagi Indonesia. Termasuk mengidentifikasi dampak lingkungan, menekan biaya produksi, meningkatkan efisiensi sumber daya, dan memenuhi regulasi lingkungan. Selain itu, mendorong perbaikan berkelanjutan, meningkatkan citra perusahaan, serta membantu pengambilan keputusan bisnis dan investasi yang lebih baik.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Menaklukkan Tantangan, Meraih Langit Hijau<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tentu saja, penerapan LCA untuk produksi SAF di Indonesia bukannya tanpa tantangan. Tiga hal yang menjadi hambatan dalam penerapannya. Keterbatasan data yang akurat dan menyeluruh, kompleksitas rantai pasok, perbedaan metodologi LCA, serta kebutuhan biaya dan waktu yang tidak sedikit. Selain itu, ketiadaan standar dan regulasi LCA yang seragam juga menjadi pekerjaan rumah tersendiri.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Namun, Arif Rahman optimis bahwa LCA menyediakan kerangka kerja yang esensial untuk mengevaluasi dampak lingkungan SAF secara holistik. Hasil kajian LCA akan menjadi landasan ilmiah yang kuat dalam menetapkan kebijakan dan mengarahkan investasi. Selain itu, mendorong inovasi teknologi menuju produksi SAF yang paling berkelanjutan dan efisien.
